Jean James Charest (John James Charest) was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. He is a Canadian politician and lawyer. He was the 29th Premier of Quebec, from 2003 to 2012, the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada from June 1993- November 1993, the leader of the federal Progressive Conservative Party of Canada from 1993 to 1998, and the leader of the Quebec Liberal Party from 1998 to 2012. He obtained a law degree from the Université de Sherbrooke and was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1981. He worked as a lawyer until he was elected Progressive Conservative member of the Canadian Parliament for the riding of Sherbrooke in the 1984 election. He is the author of book, entitled My road to Québec.
