Gottfried Benn was born in Mansfeld, Germany. He was a German poet. He studied theology at the University of Marburg and military medicine at the Kaiser Wilhelm Academy in Berlin. He wrote several poetry include: Morgue and other Poems, Fleisch, and Static poems. His gradual loss of cynicism is richly reflected in the autobiography “Double Life”. A broad selection of his poetry and prose in English translation was published under the title Primal Vision.
