Christopher Eccleston was born in Langworthy, Pendleton, Salford, Lancashire, England. He is an English actor. He played the Ninth Doctor in the British television series Doctor Who and is currently on the American drama series The Leftovers on HBO. His film career has since taken off with a variety of high-profile roles, including the title role in Jude, Elizabeth, eXistenZ, Gone in 60 Seconds, The Others, 24 Hour Party People and 28 Days Later. He played a major role as the protagonist of the 2002 Revengers Tragedy, adapted from Thomas Middleton's play of the same name.
