Fredric Jameson was born in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. He is an American literary critic and Marxist political theorist. He is best known for his analysis of contemporary cultural trends. Jameson's best-known books include Postmodernism, or, The Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism, The Political Unconscious, and Marxism and Form. He is currently Knut Schmidt-Nielsen Professor of Comparative Literature and Romance Studies and the director of the Center for Critical Theory at Duke University. He graduated from Haverford College in 1954. He received a doctoral degree at Yale University in 1960.
