Horace Mann was born in Franklin, Massachusetts, USA. He was an American politician and educator. He was elected to the United States House of Representatives from Massachusetts. He served in the Massachusetts State legislature from 1827–37. He served as Secretary of the Massachusetts State Board of Education. He was a tutor of Latin and Greek and a librarian at Brown University. During 1822, he also studied at Litchfield Law School.
