Giotto di Bondone was born in Vespignano, near Florence, Italy. He was an Italian painter and architect. He is generally considered the first in a line of great artists who contributed to the Renaissance. For almost seven centuries he has been revered as the father of European painting and the first of the great Italian masters. His selected edifices include: Scrovegni Chapel and Giotto's Campanile.
